For over the past few years, Asia has been attracting global interest as a fast-growing continent.
At the focus of it is Singapore, the southernmost city state in Asia. Striving to be ‘vibrant global city with fast economic growth, technical innovations and highly-skilled citizens’, Singapore has achieved an average GDP growth rate of almost 15% in 2010.
Singapore is just like Asia in miniature. It is a multiracial country with a population made up of Chinese, Malays, Indians and Eurasians. The official language in Singapore is English, but other languages such as Mandarin Chinese, Bahasa Melayu and Tamil are also widely used. Almost everyone in Singapore can speak English as well as their own mother tongue or dialect.
Developing to be Asia’s innovation hub, Singapore has been accepting diversity and turning it into their strength. Numerous multi-national companies have set up head-offices in Singapore due to its excellent infrastructure, geographical and political stability. A safe and beautiful town with a convenient transportation system, many foreigners have been acquiring permanent residency here in Singapore to enjoy an all-year round warm climate.
A country that integrates all kind of nationalities, Singapore would undoubtedly offer a global perspective.
